The day was grey and chilly and as the rain started it became even chillier! The group pressed on along the Chichester Canal and as we turned to cross the adjacent farmland the rain stopped – it was still chilly though.
We were then met with the glorious sight of banks of primroses and a small copse was carpeted by white wood anemones and to everyone’s surprise the beginnings of the blue mist of bluebells.
African wildlife in the form of sculptures in the garden of The Manor House (opposite St Leodegar’s Church) was a bit of a surprise but the best wildlife for me was a small flock of new lambs with their mums – a sure sign that Spring has sprung! This was a walk to remember despite the rainy start.
