West Sussex Federation organised a walk around Chichester in July. About 40 ladies took part and learned a lot about the History of Chichester. We went off in two groups from North Lodge on maybe the only warm sunny evening in July!! The tour was packed with all sorts of interesting and querky information that would surely be missed in the daily hubub of city life during the day. In usual WI style our Ladies added to the ambience of the evening with their own facts & questions to keep the guide on his toes!! The history of the Priory, the Ox market, the High Street and the Cathederal were all covered, with several other stops , so it was a busy evening. The wow! moment for me came when we went into the Cathederal to find an amazing collection of Philip Jackson sculptures on display for the Chichester Festival. Ploughmans followed back at North lodge where we sat in the last of the sunshine, making new friends from other WI’s.
