We enjoyed a glass of Pimms in the courtyard of Rowlands Rank as everyone arrived for the annual Summer Social wearing a wonderful array of themed hats and outfits, showing off the creativity of Bognor Regis WI members.

The scene was set for the ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea party’ as we made our way ‘Down the rabbit hole’ and into the hall decorated with enormous playing cards and a beautiful picture of the white rabbit.

The tables were set for tea with pretty china and strange food – Snail wraps, cheesy grin scones, caterpillar cucumbers, oddly coloured sandwiches and more. This was followed by wobbly jellies, surprise cup cakes, hat biscuits and of course jam tarts. The hall was full of chatter and laughter as everyone tucked into the feast.

Tables then competed in games of ‘Pin the tail on the rabbit’ and a keenly fought game of indoor croquet with inflatable flamingoes. The afternoon ended with a themed raffle and the results of the ‘Best hat’ competition which was won by Jan Marsden. It was a wonderful afternoon of fun, friendship and laughter.
