Cakes of the Highest Standard

The South of England Show at Ardingly is a significant annual event for WIs, in both East and West Sussex.   Not only does it host the WI annual craft and baking competition – the WI refreshment tent is renowned.
Cakes, made to special recipes by WI members, are brought together at Ardingly by a team of WI members for the event.
IMG_7416I witnessed one of the cake collection points, at Bognor Regis Sainsburys, where Felpham Evening WI, decorated with pink balloons, waited for cakes to take on to Ardingly.   Members, and their friends, including our WI, delivered cakes with enthusiasm and commitment as if they were for the competition itself.   The public should enjoy cakes made of the highest standard.   Thank you Bognor Regis WI members who helped keep up the standard – well done.

Reminders for our April Meeting

There are three important things to remember for our meeting on 10th April:

  • Please bring any gardening stuff that you can spare (plants or tools) for the Stonepillow gardening project.  Representatives from Stonepillow will be coming to collect our donations.
  • We’ll be having our Easter Treasure Hunt that evening so be prepared to find out a lot about Bognor Regis that you didn’t know!  Be sure to wear sensible shoes and dress for the  weather conditions.  When you arrive you will be grouped into teams of 4 and sent on your way – so don’t take off your coats and get too comfortable!  An indoor hunt has been arranged for those who would prefer it, or for all of us if it’s bucketing!
  • Sue Austin will be creating a key collage for the South of England Show at Ardingly in June.  She needs lots of keys, so please remember to bring any old keys with you.
