At our January meeting Louise Bolton from Stonepillow, the local charity which supports homeless people, gave a very interesting talk describing the work of this worthwhile charity. Louise described the various projects being worked on by the charity, and answered many questions posed by our members, who were clearly interested in all she had to tell us. Members had brought a range of items to donate to the charity. In her thank you mail Louise mentioned that if anyone has further questions or comments they can either pass them to her at sandsspw@stonepillow.org.uk or 01243 866307 or contact their head office at St Joseph’s on 01243 537934.
One very good suggestion, which was met with great enthusiasm, was that we could knit squares for blankets which will be very useful at the night shelter. Just knit a square (or two, or three …) and bring it to the meeting. Rosemary Coleman has kindly offered to sew them together into the finished article. To knit one square size 6” x 6″ : cast on 27 stitches in double knitting wool using 4mm needles and work 40 rows in garter stitch. So … get knitting ladies!!!!
